National Geographic names Panama one of the ‘Best Trips in the World’

Here at Pearl Island Living we are delighted to announce that Panama has been voted one of the ‘Best Trips in the World’ by National Geographic

This selection further cements Panama as an ideal destination for those seeking rich culture, breathtaking surroundings and luxurious accommodation

Among the array of diverse attractions luring discerning visitors from across the globe to Panama are the buzzing metropolis of Panama City, with its Latin flair and remarkable mixture of colonial and modern architecture, and the 16th century Panama Canal, which is now one of the most important trade routes in the world.

Panama also caters for travellers who like to get off the beaten track, as the tranquil hilltop towns around the country’s tallest volcano, Volcan Baru, not only boast spectacular views of both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, but also offer you a glimpse into traditional Panamanian life.

Panama features as National Geographic’s ‘Eco Wonderland’ choice in the listing of the top destinations for 2012 – a label perfectly fitting for our own project at Pearl Island

Our main ethos whilst construction takes place here on the island is ‘sustainability’, and the uttermost care has been taken to make sure that all building work abides by the principles of environmental and social responsibility. This means that 75% of the island will remain undeveloped and, together with the Panamanian non-profit foundation ‘Casa Taller’, we will continue to invest in and improve the island’s healthcare, education, sanitation and general standard of living.
